BOB’S BLU-RAY REVIEW OF 3:10 TO YUMA
“You can’t beat a good western”, that’s what my grandfather used to say…well guess what, he’s right. This movie was fast, exciting, and very well acted. After seeing this movie, I declared Christian Bale as my favorite actor. Bale plays a civil war vet with one leg who lives quietly on his ranch until Russel Crowe arrives. Crowe plays a famous western bad guy who has everybody on the lookout for him. He’s a ruthless killer and stagecoach bandit with a band of cohorts who are just as bad and rotten as he is. The law finally catches up with Crowe’s character and Bale’s character offers to escort the bandit to the train depot where they are to board the 3:10 to Yuma. The movie is basically a series of unfortunate events on the week long horse ride to the depot. I don’t know how much of the story is true, but if it’s all true, it’s one hell of a story. The extras on the disc make renting this movie all the better. There is a couple of good short documentaries about the old west. One of the docs is about real life bandits, the other is about the railroad industry in the 1800’s. When the extras are good in a rental, I usually score the film a little higher, so I give 3:10 to Yuma a 9 out of 10.
