Modern Day Caveman - Weblog

This is a movie that was totally off my radar. I know nothing about the series of manga books it’s based on, and I didn’t know what to expect from this movie. The Appleseed comic series was created by Shirow Masamune from “Ghost In The Shell” fame. To be fair, I’ve never seen ”Ghost In The Shell”, but after seeing this I will definitely pick it up. The story revolves around two S.W.A.T. team members in the distant future. One of the members is a 7 1/2 foot tall half man half cyborg, the other is a woman who is combat trained and can probably give Trinity from the “Matrix” a run for her money. In this world the robots control almost everything, wich is actually a good thing for a change. The robots look and act like humans but have no anger gene implanted in their memory. The robots end every conflict with a peaceful resolution…that is until a terrorist group comes to town and wants to take over. The movie has great action and terrific animation. The animation blends c.g. elements with anime style, it’s something unique and I don’t know if it’s ever been done this way before. The only complaint I had with the movie was the sound. The movie sounded a little too bassy for me. Other than that the movie was really good and the extras were great. I give “Appleseed:Ex Machina” an 8 out of 10.The visuals in this movie alone make it worth watching.
